Period:
Neoproterozoic

Age Interval:
early-Early Qingbaikouan (early Tonian), Qb (52, 53, 56)

Province:
Guizhou

Type Locality and Naming

East Guizhou. The Xiaojiahe Fm was named by the Party of Regional Geological Survey, Guizhou Bureau of Geology in 1974. The naming section is in Xiaojiahe, Yinjiang County, northwest of Fanjing Mountain, Guizhou Province. Lower-middle formation in the Fanjingshan Gr.

Synonym: (肖家河组)

Lithology and Thickness

The formation is of thin-bedded rhythmic layering, composed of grey- green, green- grey and dark grey blasto-sandstone, blasto-siltstone, slate with metamorphosed basic rock and ultrabasic rock. The basic rock is mainly of diabase and diabase olivine pyroxenite, occasionally accompanied with spilite and keratophyre. The total thickness varies from 868 m to 1393 m.
